Earthen dolls(Shima Town^Mitoko Matubara Remain)


Golden Bronze Swordiexcavated from Kume in Shima Townj

This is a part of small sword. The sword blade gathered much rust and begun to decay.
But remaining metal fittings decorated on the head of the sword is shining with a golden color
reminds us of its past time.
This sword used to be a gold shining sword decorated with a gold plate on its every part.
This sword dated back to the period from 6th century to 7th century.
The owner of this sword might be a leader ruling over Kume area in Shima.


Accessories(Marukuma Yama kofun^Kamiari^Sasayamaj

Accessories are artifacts which decorated directly the body of the deaths.
Most of the unearthed relics are round products made of glass or stone
and some of which are gold products such as earrings or crowns made of gold and silver.
Earrings were found at "Sunauozuka" remains with the condition of linking together.


Flower petals bronze mirror(Moto in Maebaru city /Hayashizaki Remain, Diameter 17.3cm)

"Hayasizaki"remains consists of keyhole-shaped mound with the 30 meter length which locates at the hill of east bank of the middle of Nagano River.
It is recognized as the oldest keyhole-shaped mound in the Nagano River basin.
Accoding to the person who discovered the mirror,it was in the stone coffin built with basalt boards.
A quite little of red pigments adhered to the mirror.
The ceremony in which red pigments were scattered in the stone coffin might be held in this area.


Gods and beasts bronze mirror(excavated from Tomari in Maebaru city, Diameter 17.7cm)

The fact that red pigments and textiles adhered to the surface of the bronze mirror shows
that it is put with courteous manner in the stone coffin.
If the textiles are analyzed, the technology of weaving at the times would be clarified.
The design on the mirror is unclear but it is sure to be a kind of "Gods and beasts bronze mirror".
There are Dainichi Kofun in Tomari from which bronze mirror are said to have been unearthed and
the information on the mirror is indispensable for research of Kofun period of Itoshima province.
